Facetmap License and Conditions of Use

This is a legal agreement in effect between Complete Information
Architecture, Inc. ("CIA") and the licensed user ("you") by virtue of
your possession of Facetmap software ("the Software"). It applies to any
version of the Software which is distributed as "Free" and which is
packaged with this license, including the Facetmap Light, Facetmap XSLT,
and Facetmap Starter Kit versions of the Software. If you do not agree
to the terms and conditions of the Agreement, then you may not install,
use, or distribute any versions of the Software, and you must
discontinue use of the Software immediately.

This distribution may contain third-party java libraries which are
included in accordance with their own licenses, and which are exempt
from this license agreement. These libraries are: Jakarta Log4j
(log4j-1.2rc1.jar), IBM's Xalan XSL processor (xalan.jar), and the
Xerces Library for XML Processing (xerces.jar and xml-apis.jar).

1. License and Ownership

The Software, and its accompanying files and documentation, are owned
and copyrighted (©2003) by CIA, all rights reserved.

CIA grants you a free, non-transferable, and non-exclusive license
to download and use, but not to redistribute, any Free version of the
Software. You may install and use the Software on up to four (4) servers
owned or rented by you. You may use the Software by linking the software
library to other software running on your servers, or by running the
Software as a webserver. This License does not restrict the number of
users that may connect to your servers for a purpose enabled by Facetmap.

In addition, you have the right to create derivative works for your own
use, but you may not distribute the derivative works under this license.
Contact CIA to obtain a distribution license.

2. Distribution

You may not distribute, resell, transfer, rent, or lease the Software,
nor transfer any rights obtained under this license, to any third party.

3. Copyright

You acknowledge that no title to the intellectual property in any part
of the Software is transferred to you. You further acknowledge that
title and full ownership rights to the Software will remain the
exclusive property of CIA, and you will not acquire any rights to the
Product except as expressly set out in this Agreement.

This License does not include ownership of the source code for the
Software, or algorithms used by the Software. You may not reverse
engineer, disassemble, decompile, or modify the Software in any way.

4. Warranty Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability 

Facetmap is licensed to the user on an "AS IS" basis. CIA makes NO
WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THIS SOFTWARE
AND ITS ASSOCIATED FILES AND DOCUMENTATION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO
ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
CIA DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE OPERATION OF THIS SOFTWARE WILL BE
UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. You the
user are solely responsible for determining the appropriateness of this
software for your use and accept full responsibility for all risks
associated with its use. CIA is not and will not be liable for any
direct, indirect, special or incidental damages in any amount including
loss of profits or interruption of business however caused, even if CIA
has been advised of the possibility of such damages. CIA retains the
right to, in its sole discretion, refund the purchase price of this
software as a complete and final resolution to any dispute.
